The true story of the murder in Chapel Hill in 1963 that became the seed-thought for the novel, UNTIL PROVEN . . . TIME OF DEATH is the nonfiction campanion piece to the novel. Those who read them both will have a view into the fiction writer's process.

TIME OF DEATH gives the background story that became UNTIL PROVEN.

TIME OF DEATH is nonfiction about a murder that happened in Chapel Hill on Christmas Eve, 1963. My father was a friend to the man who was falsely accused, tried and convicted--and later exonerated. I was 12 when the murder occurred and 14 when the innocent man was finally acquitted. The case and the trials introduced me to a number of difficult questions about my hometown and the justice system. I explored those questions in the novel, UNTIL PROVEN, and issued TIME OF DEATH as a companion piece.

Because it is less than book length, TIME OF DEATH is available as an ebook only, through all of online ebook sellers.

Those of you who live in the NC Public Radio broadcasting area know that Frank Stasio is a remarkable interviewer and a wonderful part of the community. His show, The State of Things, has formed its own community of listeners. I've been one of them for a long time, so it was a great honor to be interviewed on the show on April 9, 2013.

Here is the link, if you would care to listen.
